Awake again, no shut-eye or rest even though I try my best.
Insomnia, that dreaded companion.
Tried calming music, melatonin, and meditation- but all I get is aggravation.
Relaxing and breathing, no electronics, “highly-recommended” herbal tonics.
Yet insomnia has settled in, invisible and inescapable.
Will I ever fall asleep? How I long for one that’s deep.
Tired and fatigued once more, thanks again to that awful boor.

Ron Lancaster has been telling stories since he was three years old according to his mother who revealed that unfortunate incident with the missing cookies. Despite that scrape, Ron kept refining his stories to an ever-finer point until 1992 when he opened the first night club devoted to storytelling called the Storyteller Café in Los Angeles, and another one by the same name later in Mesa, Arizona. He is the author of five books including the ever popular
How I Helped Win World War II: Memoirs of a Five-Year-Old and his soon-to-be released “How to Buy Tires.”
Steven Braun first appeared on the Odyssey stage back in 2014, and was instantly hooked. Since then he’s worn many Odyssey hats, including storyteller, curator, website admin, and board member, but tonight he dons the most exciting hats yet, those of sound engineer and podcaster. Please join Steve in keeping fingers crossed that all goes well. Steve also enjoys writing, photography, and being married to and cooking for Phyllis. In his spare time, Steve works in public safety as a 911 emergency communications shift supervisor and tech coordinator.
Jerry (Che) Diaz is returning to the Odyssey Storytelling stage for the first time in over 5 years. Che’s history with the organization is full of moments that will forever be in their memory. Che has been an Old Pueblo resident since 1989, and when not telling stories, they can be found on other stages that include playing drums, advocating for those who are oppressed, and soon even trying their hand at stand-up comedy. Che has been alcohol and cigarette free since 2013 and helps others with their own addiction journey when asked to. Che strives to be a part of The Old Pueblo in ways that educate, entertain, support, and bring a light to all. Don’t be shy and say hi to Che anytime you see them out there, as they are always open to learn about new people. Heck, it might be turned into a future story you can enjoy.
Brian Taraz (AKA Satan) is almost 20 years in Tucson. Brian has been a local theater actor, a DJ at KTFT 99.1 FM, a vegan sausage salesperson, tile layer, and, for the last two and a half years, a full-time caregiver for his mom who had dementia. In Brian’s life there are two kids (older), an ex-wife, and currently, a cat. He turns 60 in November. His mom has moved on. Interesting times 🙂
