Are you infatuated with a Calvin Klein perfume? Did you see the movie “As Good as It Gets” a disturbing number of times? Do you feel an unquenchable urge to wash your hands, even as you read this sentence? That last one could just be a hold over from the recent pandemic. Or, it could be OBSESSION, and we want to hear about it!
Whether its unrequited love, paper-folding, the need to constantly organize that unwieldy pantry or any of a thousand obsessions, Odyssey Storytelling is offering you an opportunity to hear and be heard. Come join us in our new, old home THE SCREENING ROOM on Congress Street, where we will be the first Thursday of every month, starting January 5, 2023, as Odyssey Storytelling presents: OBSESSION! That’s right, OBSESSION.
Storytellers include:
David Fitzsimmons is a staff cartoonist for the AZ Star, and his cartoons are syndicated worldwide by Cagle Cartoons. His voice can be read as Tucson.com’s Fitz’ Opinion, and heard doing standup, keynote speaking, and of course, as the “Fastest Draw West of the Potomac.” David is also a performer, writer, and producer of The Old Pueblo Radio Show, and a veteran of the Odyssey Storytelling stage.
Noel Hennesey has been a Tucsonan for the last 14 years. She is a committed bike commuter and she enjoys getting outside with her husband and kids.
Czarina Nafarrate is an Arizona native who grew up in Nogales, AZ. An avid storyteller, Czarina first came to Tucson to pursue a degree in journalism (and French) at the University of Arizona, and has called it home ever since. She has always been fond of putting pen to paper and performing on stage, and is currently a contect editor by day AND an improviser at Tucson Improv Movement by night. She spends her days listening to true crime podcasts and begging for cuddles from her pup, Nikolaj.
Em Bowen is an educator, a writer, a personal trainer, and CrossFit coach who has nearly always lived within 1 hour of the US/MX border. They are currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona in education and study the intersection of trans studies, schooling, and care.
Steven Braun‘s (Curator/Producer) career as a Public Safety 911 Telecommunications Shift Supervisor began over 12 years ago, before which he was an award-winning professional chef. He has also worked as a retail store stock clerk/cashier, front desk Night Auditor for a local resort, and Alpine ski instructor…okay, that last part isn’t true. In fact, he hasn’t skied in over 40 years. But he is a storyteller. Other hobbies include photography, writing, SCUBA divng, and marble sculpture…nope…just the first three, but glass blowing is high on the list of things he will attempt before shedding this mortal coil. Besides being a regular on the Odyssey stage and a member of the board, he recently took over as sound engineer and podcast host. He considers himself to be the hardest working lazy person he has ever encountered and prefers to lay on a couch watching old Star Wars movies. Most importantly, Steven has been married to Phyllis for over 36 years and they have a child, Jax, who lives and works in Seattle, where they visit as often as global pandemics allow.
