Tick Tock, Nov. 6, 2025

Tick Tock: waiting, being rushed, looming deadlines, jumping through hoops to stop an imminent catastrophe. Tick Tock: clocks, bombs, or that short-form video social media platform. Tick tock: a day late and a dollar short. Tick tock: bit by a tick. Tick tock: Join Odyssey Storytelling for tales of high anxiety and impending fateful events woven with wit and humor, anticipation, warning, impatience and rushing to avoid a bad outcome. Tick tock.

Our November 2025 Storytellers

  • Alice Webb

works as a hospice RN, and recently earned her nurse practitioner certification! She is an adventure hound; this has brought  joy, anguish, and a few really bad sprained ankles. She’s never met a grumpy old man, cat, or frosty can of Coke Zero that she didn’t love. Abby is her ancient, stinky dog.

  • Stephen Grede

First-time storyteller Stephen Grede is an enthusiastic fan and supporter of this art form. Born in Milwaukee, he attended college at the University of Arizona with a coin toss and never moved away. Stephen is a landscape architect, public artist, and long-time Computer-Aided Design faculty at Pima Community College.

  • Kris Legacy

was born in the Shenandoah Valley of Northern Virginia and raised in the creaky bones of the Appalachian Mountains. He is now a student at PCC studying performing arts. His interests and inspirations are beekeeping, the occult, and eating good food with great friends.

  • Silvia Kolchens

is a chemist, educator, and volunteer Master Gardener who brings her scientific curiosity to everyday life. She enjoys hiking, motorcycling, and photography, always finding ways to connect science with the beauty of the outdoors. Living in the Tucson Mountains with her partner, Penelope, and their dog, Kosmos, Silvia loves sharing knowledge with family, friends, and the broader community.

  • Matt Gillette

was born and raised in the Midwest, but has called the desert Southwest home for more than 15 years. He and his wife of 44 years, Sherri, raised 3 boys and have 2 granddaughters.

Matt has been a Scout leader for more than 30 years and lives to tell stories around the campfire. He is especially adept at long drawn-out stories that leave 11- and 12-year-olds groaning.

  • Suzanne Cipra

has lived in Tucson since 2009. As the youngest of a bunch of kids, she’s been a storyteller for as long as she could talk, trying to compete with her siblings. Suzanne, her husband, and all three of her boys are theater geeks to varying degrees. When her dentist told her she needed a crown, she said, “I know, right?”

The Magic of Storytelling & Community Building

Celebrating The Richness of The Human Experience

Odyssey Storytelling builds community through the art of storytelling. Our monthly event holds space for Tucson community members to take the stage and share a personal story.

The magic of this simple act of sharing their truth in front of a live audience suddenly builds bridges across the human landscape. People of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives join our stage and our audience.

The outcome is a celebration of the richness of the human experience and the fostering of empathy, understanding, and solidarity.

Founded in 2004 by Penelope Starr

Odyssey has helped storytellers of all levels (experienced, or first time) find their voice and share their truth. “Along the way, I learned that profound changes occur when we tell and listen to each other’s stories, how a simple act can build community, dispel prejudices, foster creativity, and help heal.”
