“THE BEST AUDIENCE IN TOWN”

21 Years of Building Community One Story at a Time

Join Us at a New Location, 191 Toole, for our Next Live Storytelling Event

Adventure

Thursday, May 1 at 7 pm

Venue: 191 Toole

Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

We’re going BIG for our May 1 show - join us at Tucson’s iconic 191 Toole. Tickets available at the door or through Ticketmaster

Join us for an unforgettable night of storytelling where adventure takes many forms—some scale mountains, others dive into the depths of the soul. Not every tale begins with a backpack and boots—some start with a whisper, a decision, or a leap into the unknown.

Whether it’s a trek through wild landscapes or a twist in the path of everyday life, our storytellers will take you there.

Embrace the adventure of story.

Our May 2025 Storytellers

  • Amber Anderson

enjoys participating in joyful randomness when it comes to experiences and places. She hails from the distant north (Montana), but after 17 years of brain-melting heat in Tucson, she is a self-proclaimed desert rat. She will try almost anything at least once.

  • Eb Eberlein

is committed to retirement. He’s had a lifetime of career changes from cab driver to science teacher, wildland firefighter to wilderness guide (and raised three children along the way). Eb has had a radio presence on KXCI here in Tucson and has performed as a singer-songwriter in many sketchy venues.

  • Kristi Key

has always thrived in the space between extremes—from the rugged landscapes of Alaska to the sun-soaked deserts of Arizona. A proud grandmother and a dedicated federal government employee, she carries with her a collection of uncanny experiences that blur the lines between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

  • Porter Norton McDonald

is an MFA student in illustration/design/animation at the University of Arizona. His current work includes public murals, sequential art, reductive linocut printmaking, photography, and most recently, creative nonfiction.

The Magic of Storytelling & Community Building

Celebrating The Richness of The Human Experience

Odyssey Storytelling builds community through the art of storytelling. Our monthly event holds space for Tucson community members to take the stage and share a personal story.

The magic of this simple act of sharing their truth in front of a live audience suddenly builds bridges across the human landscape. People of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives join our stage and our audience.

The outcome is a celebration of the richness of the human experience and the fostering of empathy, understanding, and solidarity.

Founded in 2004 by Penelope Starr

Odyssey has helped storytellers of all levels (experienced, or first time) find their voice and share their truth. “Along the way, I learned that profound changes occur when we tell and listen to each other’s stories, how a simple act can build community, dispel prejudices, foster creativity, and help heal.”
